they are along this detained americans ever in iran. they were arrested along the iran/iraq order in 2009 and sentenced to eight years each in prison for spying and illegal entry into the country. >> after two years in an iranian prison, the two men have finally been freed from the tehran prison. their convoy was hurt -- seemed headed toward the airport. officials were seen outside the airport. the latest report we have from here is that the swiss ambassador has gone to join the two hikers inside the airport. state tv and iran is reporting that the flight has deported -- departed iran. they are certainly at the airport and on their way out. this seems to be the final stages of their incarceration. we will bring you more as soon as we have it.

>> the release of the hikers comes as the iranian president mahmoud ahmadinejad prepares to speak at the united nations general assembly. president obama addressed the assembly this morning. he focused on several global issues but also on u.s. interest in the middle east. he said the wars in iraq and afghanistan are coming to an end with u.s. forces being substantially cut by the end of the year. the president stressed there could be no shortcut to peace between israelis and palestinians. >> a 14-year-old boy faces criminal charges for allegedly china a laser pointer at a state police helicopter. the helicopter was flying near eastern boulevard after 11:00 last night in search of a suicidal person the teen pointed the light at the cockpit more than once. he was arrested shortly after and faces a host of charges including reckless endangerment and assented second-degree assault on police.

the state police say the aviation command has exported more than half a dozen laser incidents so far this year. >> the search is on for the person who opened fire near a blues -- busy playground in waverly. the 30-year-old victim has died per the shooting left an entire never been shaken up. jennifer franciotti has details. >> the site were memorial stadium used to sit was bustling early tuesday evening. families packed the waverly stadium place playground when gunfire broke out across the street around 5:00 p.m.. >> it could have happened to any of the kids in the playground. it is terrible. they can't even play. >> of violence was confined to the corner of 34th street where police found a man in his 30's slump over the wheel of his car suffering from a gunshot wound to bed. >> possibly one should approach it on foot, shot him and fled from the same. >> parents were unnerved by chose to stay put on the

playground. >> we stayed and played which was not the safest thing to do. i did not want the kids -- i did not want to have to leave with the kids. >> i have lived in this neighborhood for a while now. things like this don't happen -- happen every so often. is an example of the violence. countyprince george's police officers face criminal charges this noon in the beating of the university of maryland students. it happened last year after the school's basketball win over duke. the officers are now charged with first and second-degree assault in addition to misconduct in office. 28 students were arrested that night and charges against many of them were later dropped when video of the beating surfaced. >> a severed man faces charges in a deadly hit-and-run accident

in west baltimore. police said the man is responsible for the deaths of a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old who were hit and killed while crossing a boulevard on pratt street. he is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence. his companion is a 26-year-old and she is charged with being an accessory after the fact his attorney says he told police she was behind the wheel when the girls were hit. >> if justice is what mr. bernstein was to seek, he should stop playing games with all laws and charge the program person. >> the car was pulled over a short time after the accident with miles behind the wheel. prosecutors believe the pair switch seats after the accident. >> a new reports suggest baltimore is among the smoggiest areas in the country.

temperatures have been held down. they are barely into the 60's and 70's across the state. we are barely at 65 at the airport and warmer outside the inner harbor. this is what is happening -- we have this very large storm system coming in out of canada across minnesota and wisconsin. because it is so large, it is influencing the circulation across the country. we're getting a southwesterly flow into the east and that is growing in the moisture. it is keeping as unsettled. the storm system continues to have our way and this will be the pattern. the storm system will cut off from the mainstream pattern and that means it will be a slow mover. we will be stuck with this for quite some time. we'll keep this late into the week which means the rain chances will stick around. the future cast is not the

prettiest. the rain will be here all through friday morning. we will take a look of a seven- day forecast coming up. we are still in hurricane season in the tropics. we have not had anything impact us since we last saw lee but there is a new storm called ophelia. this is that the tropical wave i have been mentioning. it moved off of africa and is likely to develop she will take a westerly track by puerto rico on monday. this is way out in the distance. we will keep you up to date as she is slowly but surely having close to the united states. mostly cloudy skies and our area tonight and a chance for showers especially throughout the afternoon and evening hours and that will keep the temperatures mild overnight. it will still be foggy and the rain chances are in place for the next couple of days and into
